Help

Quick answers for narrating text with NarratorBox.

How do I narrate text?

Paste or type up to 50,000 characters into the text box on the home page. Pick a voice, adjust the speed if you like, and click Generate. Audio starts playing instantly while the rest is still being synthesized.

Chrome extension

The NarratorBox Chrome extension lets you select text on most regular web pages and hear it narrated without leaving the page. (Chrome blocks all extensions on browser-internal pages like settings and the Web Store.) Install it, then:

  1. Select text on a web page.
  2. Right-click and choose "Listen with NarratorBox" — narration starts right away with your saved voice and speed.
  3. Or click the toolbar icon with text selected, pick a voice and speed in the popup, then click Generate. Either way, audio keeps playing when you close the popup.

Reopen the toolbar icon for playback controls, or right-click and choose "Stop NarratorBox" to stop without reopening the popup.

Does it work when I close the popup?

Yes. Audio continues playing after you close the popup. A "▶" badge appears on the toolbar icon while audio is active. Click the icon to reopen the popup with playback controls.

How do paid limits work?

Free users get a daily demo with a character limit. Paid subscribers get up to50,000 characters per narration, a daily fair-use allowance, and no per-IP limit. To use your subscription in the extension, sign in to the NarratorBox web app, then open the extension and click Sign in once. That opens a quick connect page, and from then on the extension recognizes your plan in this browser.
